Today is my first day of making soap in our new surroundings! After cleaning the kitchen thoroughly and nominating cupboards for storing supplies, I am ready to crack on with making Soap Cabin products again!
It’s always strange starting again somewhere new (at least we’re roughly in the same area), but it is also fun to set up your space how you want it. We have more kitchen worktop space compared to before, which is good and less restrictive.
Next job is to finish sorting out my new office/craft room! I used to have a lot of natural light and an amazing leafy view in the old place, which I miss a little, but it has definitely been a good move. Also a good opportunity for a clear out!
Great news! We’ve finally got a move date… Next week in fact! However, this has crept far too close to our Christmas fairs, so we’ve decided not to take part in the St Clement Danes School Christmas Market this year and give ourselves time to settle in to our new place and concentrate on Chalfont Crafty Collective’s Christmas Market on Dec 16th, our online orders and our regular wholesale order.

In anticipation of our upcoming Christmas fairs we have been busy making products and ordering all the supplies we need for making our stall extra special this year.
As usual we will be selling at St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood at their annual Christmas fair in December. Because we do that event every year, it’s important to keep things fresh and interesting, with something different on offer to last year (as well as our usual products).
Because we are apparently heading towards a cashless society, we have just invested in a PayPal card reader, so we should be able to take card and contactless payments this time around! Yay!
We are really interested in The Kitchen Croxley’s Christmas Shopping evenings in November and December, but we anticipate moving house in a couple of weeks, so probably a good idea to calm it down this year ????…
Over the weekend we made a few changes to our online shop and upgraded. I think it looks a bit smarter and hopefully more user-friendly.
Unfortunately, the categorisation function has broken! While we look into fixing it, we are employing the tag function at the top of the screen for selecting particular categories of products. Hopefully we’ll get this sorted soon. Not ideal in the run-up to Christmas!
Last night I managed to take part in the chat with the @Craftblogclub on Twitter, having participated earlier in the year, but more recently realising that I had just missed it! I actually came across it having met one of the bloggers/makers through a craft market that we used to do.
Last night we were discussing our next projects and what Christmas fairs (if any) we are doing. Obviously we’re doing 2 in Chalfont St Peter and Chorleywood, on a reduced schedule due to impending house move!
There are lots of these creative groups on Twitter now, like Folksyhour and Handmadehour. Its a great way to share information, ideas and to even arrange crafty meet ups. I’ll have to see if I can take part in either of those, maybe as a one off.
