It has been one heck of a year this year, but we just wanted to say thank you for continuing to buy our goodies throughout the pandemic, and for following and liking our social media posts.
We’ve been doing this Soap Cabin thing for a long time now, and have decided to take a longer Christmas break than usual from making and selling (and all the other stuff!), and so we’ll be closed until the end of January. As well as a break, it also gives us a bit of time to think about what we want to do next. We started out in 2011 by selling our soaps at boutique fairs and craft markets, and this is our absolute favourite thing.
This year we would have been at our regular monthly gig, the Red Kite Craft Market in Little Chalfont, along with bigger annual events like Denham Village Fayre, Croxley Revels, and many of the Christmas fairs that usually take place. As you’re aware, all of these types of events were all cancelled due to the pandemic, but we really hope that these events can come back next year. It’s all a bit unknown at the moment, but there is the great news of the vaccine that is being administered as we speak. Obviously it will take time, but it will be so nice to see people at our stall once again! I’m going to have a think about how we do testers and samples at our table because it won’t be a good idea for lots of hands to be handling soap testers!
Here’s to a much better and more positive 2021 full of fun events and hopefully see you in person soon… Happy New Year! x
Happy New Year! We hope you had a good Christmas with a LOT of chocolate.
Apologies if you tried to access our website over the holidays – unfortunately it went down for several days. However, we have since sorted it out (obviously, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to read this post!), moved it over to another host and we have also made our site secure (you’ll notice a padlock and https in the address bar), so there should be no further issues.
So what’s coming up for us this year? As January and February are quiet months, we will be looking at what events we will be doing later in the year, and working on some new products. We hear that Chalfont Crafty Collective will be holding some markets this year, so we definitely want to be in on that! We’ve been really slack on writing the blog over the last year or two, so we will also be getting back into the writing habit and sharing some tips, information and other fun stuff!
We love natural oils, balms and butters and we used to make a Soothing Skin Balm which was perfect for dry, chapped skin, but we discontinued it after not selling as many as we would have hoped. However, we do love an all-purpose skin balm, so we will be looking at developing an exciting new one shortly…
Keep checking our Upcoming Events on the front page for details of where you can find our stall. Otherwise, our webshop is always open! :))
Sorry we haven’t posted in a while…we’ve been busy changing all our labelling and making lots of products for the upcoming Christmas events. We’re really excited now that we’ve been able to get everything looking a bit more uniform in terms of logo and branding. You may have noticed that we’ve made a few tweaks to our website too.
Our first event is a Christmas Fair on Saturday 10th November at Harefield Community Centre, which is right on our doorstep! It will be great to be part of a community event and we hope local people will get to know us and become regular customers.
Then we’ll be at York House Prep School in Sarratt for their Christmas Shopping Evening on Wednesday 21st November for a fun filled evening. We took part 2 years ago and it was a great event. We even won a bottle of wine in the raffle!
Our third event will be St Clement Danes School Christmas Fair on 1st December in Chorleywood, followed by Carols on the Green in Stoke Poges in Bucks on the evening of Friday 7th December.
All details are on our website – hope you can join us!
It’s official…we’re back from our hols in stunning North Devon! While we didn’t have the heat of Tenerife for our week away in the surfing hotspot of Croyde, we did do lots of sight-seeing and walking and we picked up lots of ideas. Sometimes it helps to just get away from your usual environment to get the creative juices flowing, right?
Now that we’re back, it’s time to start preparing for the busy Christmas season which will be upon us before we know it!
We thought we’d be doing the Chalfont Crafty Collective Spring Fair in Chalfont St Peter in March, but unfortunately the ladies were unable to secure a date at the church hall ???? so the first one for that event will be 16th June, the Summer Market, which we will hopefully be doing… If we’ve not jetted off somewhere exotic!
Markets are such a great way to engage with people and to get them to try and smell our soaps and other goodies!
In the meantime we are exploring other opportunities and looking into perhaps selling on Etsy to expand our reach. Another thing will be to get a regular newsletter going!
