The Soap Cabin

Christmas

Christmas Mania!

At the moment we are working around the clock (as my nan would say) to get our products ready for the first of our line-up of Christmas fairs, the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home Christmas Fair at The Beaconsfield School (not to be confused with Beaconsfield High School) up the road in South Bucks. We’ve been melting butter, mixing and pouring oils, infusing soap mix with essential oils, wrapping, sticking, labelling, stamping, ordering more supplies, stressing…. It’ll all be fine…I’m sure!

Happy New Year!

Christmas seemed to come and go in a flash! I guess there was so much to do beforehand, what with present shopping, getting a window replaced, collecting a pre-ordered panettone from Little Chalfont and getting stock ready for our various Christmas fairs, that once Christmas day came, we could finally relax with an amazing dinner and fun games at my brother’s house in Watford. Boxing day saw a trip to see family in Sussex. We managed to see Exodus at Vue at Woodside, Phantom of the Opera in London and new year fireworks at Croxley Green!

Little Fox starts again in April, so we have a bit of a breather until then, but in that time we have a large order to get on with, Rebel Pebble to stock and supplies to order… A good time to get organised!

And….relax

Well, the Christmas rush is finally over for us here at The Soap Cabin, so we can kind of relax now until it all starts again next year! It has been a crazy few weeks getting our stock ready for the Christmas fairs and Rebel Pebble, as well as all the orders that started to trickle through website. We sold out of a few of our popular items, such as Lemongrass & Lime soap, the body butters and our new Soothing Skin Balm, which has been very popular among eczema sufferers.

As we have been able to slow down a bit, we managed to get along to the Rickmansworth Christmas Evening and the fabulous Carols by Batchworth Lock, which were lots of fun, and it’s great when you spot familiar faces around town. The Soap Cabin Christmas Meal took place this year at The Pennsylvanian in Rickmansworth…again. We also managed to get some Wooden Soap Cutting guide blocks made by the skilled Barry Lawrence of Crafty Ideas (a Little Fox regular) so that we can start to cut our soaps straight (!) and more evenly… Time to start booking in next year’s markets.

We hope you have a great Christmas and see you in 2015!

Christmas Madness

We have been crazy busy getting stock ready for our two main Christmas fairs happening over the next two weekends: St Clement Danes School Food and Gift Fair in Chorleywood on Sunday 30th November and Little Fox Christmas Market in Ricky on Saturday 6th December. I’m always excited about these fairs because they are always cheerful, fun and busy.

My place smells like a spa at the moment, but there is stuff everywhere and it seems like everything was trying to go wrong; I ran out of transparent lid boxes thinking I had loads left, I stuck Lemongrass labels on my Coconut body butters, I threw oil and butter on the floor and curtains at various times, my Mango & Passion Fruit bath bombs continued to expand out of the heart-shaped moulds and once set and wrapped they completely disintegrated, I went to carefully add an essential oil to a mixture using the dropper bottle but the whole lot came pouring out….and so on!
But despite all that, it’s still fun and rewarding when you finally get to a fair and people love your products. (Although there will always be those who say they don’t wash…)
