Comments Off on Little Fox Market – Saturday 18th April 2015
This Saturday was our first Little Fox Market of 2015! Unfortunately the wooden bath accessories that I had ordered with a month’s notice hadn’t arrived in time, so I was bit annoyed that we didn’t have more soap dishes and nail brushes to make up more gift sets.
It was a nice sunny day, and the morning was fairly busy, but it soon became very, very quiet (boo!) We did have a few customers, two of whom were repeat customers, so that is great! One lady was really pleased with her Soothing Calendula Skin Oil and was glad that we were there so she could buy another one in person. We will be there again next month, which will be during the Ricky Canal Festival, so we’re hoping it’s a lot busier with so many visitors in town! If you are in Rickmansworth on Saturday 16th May, do pop into St Mary’s Church Centre (near the Feathers Pub) and check out the Little Fox Market – it’s a real gem!
At the end of last year, we were a bit unsure whether it was financially viable to continue to rent shelf space at Rebel Pebble in Watford, but we have managed to negotiate a better fee, occupying less shelf space, so we are still there!
I’m really pleased, because I want to support the shop as it’s a real gem in a town centre full of chains, plus it’s somewhere creative, fun and different. It reminds me a bit of the Craft Kiln in Charlestown, near St Austell in Cornwall, which sells items made by local people, such as hand painted glass, natural skin care, hand sewn homewares, art pieces and much more, except Rebel Pebble has the added extra of a large downstairs gallery/workshop space. Do pop in and check it out!
“Feliz Navidad!” was one of the many Christmas hits on the loudspeaker this Saturday…
Today we did our final (until someone convinces me to do another) market of the year and I have to say it was manic for our little soap stall! Lemongrass & Lime and also Coconut products were big sellers as always.
There were some good chats with customers about dry skin in this season of cold weather and central heating, so a few went away with a Soothing Skin Oil or Balm. I think many of us have managed to neglect our skin in all the busyness, or have been fooled by the mild Autumn, and then found ourselves with scaly legs or flaky scalps and peeling lips; great look for the office party…not.
It was freezing cold and we had much sympathy for our friends stationed under gazebos outdoors!
